Hi all,

I spent a fantasic day along with another photographer on the south bank of the Thames on Tuesday. I find the south bank a brilliant place to take photographs.  I really enjoy running photography workshops in this area.

We started off at St Paul's cathedral and took a few images there before moving on to the Milllennium bridge which is particularly good to photograph with an extreme wide-angled lens.   Lots of angles and flowing lines to emphasize.  Next stop was the the London mayor's building which again has great lines and shape to get the photographer's imagination going.   I think it's particularly interesting that you have got this really modern building set against the much older Tower Bridge.

After a nice coffee at Starbucks it was on to the Houses of Parliament.  We stayed on the south bank ready to shoot across the river, to capture the houses of parliament and it's reflection in the evening.  London at night, just brilliant!!  The light during the day had been very flat.  Not ideal at all.   However there were a few small breaks in the cloud now which, along with the lights of London reflecting off the cloud was enough to lift the resulting images.

We took a number of compositions and then moved on to the London Eye and although the light wasn't as good now, the "Eye" still looked spectacular.

Great day good company!  And don't believe all you hear about the Police not allowing you to take photographs in public places.  We met up with a few of them and they could not have been nicer.  I think that all the laws have been very much clarified there!
