Like many major cities, London looks spectacular at night. With this in mind I have developed a number of night shoots in London. For this course we meet up outside the stairs at the bottom of Tower Bridge, South Bank side – the side nearest to the London Assembly building.
The best time for night time photography is just after sunset when there is still some reflected light present, which gives rise to those silky blue tones in the sky. Because of this the start time for this workshop will vary depending on the time of the year.
All the locations are very close to each other on this workshop because ideal lighting conditions don’t last forever so we need to make the most of the light while it’s there.
From The London Assembly Building we head for Tower Bridge. From the bridge we will shoot the Shard and also the south bank of the Thames. While we still have good light we move onto the south bank itself and shoot Tower Bridge which is a fantastic subject at any time of the day. I especially love it at night.
Because this is a night shoot a tripod is essential for this workshop. If you don’t have a tripod, don’t worry too much as I have a couple of tripods that I lend out to students.
This course is limited to a maximum of six students. By keeping the numbers low I can give each participant as much individual attention as they need.
